I arrived at Sunninghill Hospital, Emergency department on the 21/04/13. I was in severe pain. The entire left side of my face was throbbing, what I initially thought was from my tooth or sinuses.
I was promptly seen by the nurse who did my vitals and asked me to go and open a file. I eventually was taken into a cubicle in the ER. I was seen by a male Dr in the ER, Dr Pelowo.
He did a brief history taking, with which I advised the pain medication I had taken before arriving at the ER. He then diagnosed me with acute sinusitis and gave me a prescription. He also directed the nurse to come and give me an injection for the pain.
My issues here are as follow:
- Poor history taking
- NO physical examination!!! None what so ever
- Poor diagnosis, due to no examination
- No explanation of medication both prescription and injection given
- Poor/NO control of pain that I had arrived with, which was the primary cause of my visit to the ER.
If as a Dr you cant do the simplest thing like relieve pain then how can you be trusted. I ended up having to go to another ER for pain relief and better care. I am appalled by the treatment I have to pay for!
