Life Healthcare
Appalling emergency service

I took my little girl (1 yrs old) to the emergency unit at Wilgeheuwel hospital last night. She had a very high fever (over 40) and had trouble breathing. I must say that the ladies at reception were very friendly and help-full but that is where it ended. Waited more than 2 1/2 hours before the Dr.came to see her (only after she started vomiting in reception and other patients actually walked out and said they can't wait any longer) where after the nurse took her temperature and advised the Dr thereof. the Dr told the nurse to administer meds but never asked me if she was allergic to anything or knew she has a heart condition (ASD). I waited another hour for him to examine her only then asking me for her history, was told she has a throat infection, which I found strange as he never manged to see her throat as she wouldn't allow him. I received the meds from the nurse (after an hour) with no indication (on the packaging itself or from the Dr) how to use it and after I asked her she took a guess at the antibiotics and didn't know what the others were for.
I am highly disappointed in the lack of knowledge and commitment displayed and will definitely go to Netcare next time.
