Why does it take two weeks to authorize something

I was with Motohealth for 1 year with no problems, went over to Discovery for 4 years with no problems. On 1st of January 2014 we started with Medihelp. I am suppose to go for a MRI scan to see the nature/what could be wrong with my lower back. Medihelp refused to authorise the claim due to the fact that I just started with them (bare in mind after letting me know that I was fully accepted with NO EXCLUSIONS). It has been two weeks now and I still have no answer from them. This is really not acceptable. The pain in my lower back is becoming worse and worse every day. I will NEVER in my life refer anyone to Medihelp if this is the kind of service they are giving.
