In 2012 my daughter Liech? D Joyce was admitted to Nu Shifa Hospital for servere abdominal pain, she treated at the hospital and then sent home.
Few months later I received a bill from the hospital, for around R3000 when I tried query with the hospital about the bill I was either ignored and given very little info. Eventually I found out it was for a co-payment for a procedure, endoscopy. I then contacted the medical aid emmediately to query why payment had not gone through and learned that Nu Shifa Hospital did not follow protocol and did not get authorisation for the scope to be done.
I contacted the hosptipal to give them the info I had got from the medical aid, I got ignored and shunted around. The next thing I am handed over to e debt collection agency, VeriCred. I explained what was happening to the agent, Sumaya Akbar, who tried to assist me in getting to the bottom of this and people at Nu Shifa Hospital are giving the same run around.
My problem is; a procedure was carried out without authorisation nor was I informed of this and then when Nu Shifa Hospital's medical aid claim was not settled they are now harrassing me to cover the COST of their staff's incompentency.
