Medical aid rescinding approval after operation!

I joined bestmed because I was told they are the BEST.

I had some terrible pain a few months ago due to toothaches so I go to the dentist and she tells me I need to remove the teeth that are giving me problems as my old ones are too far gone to save.

I called bestmed for authorisation and after some up and downs and to and fro's and lots of pain I get an authorisation number from them for the operation, thankfully the operation was successful and without snags but to my surprise BESTMED pulled back they're authorisation number and now I need to pay a R40 000 hospital bill.

We have sent several emails requesting clarification and now they state that it was a pre existing condition although I visited the dentist six years ago?

How can they suddenly after the operation rescind their decision? I would honestly understand if they said I need to pay a fraction or a part of it but now with a 3k per month medical aid I must foot the bill?

Why did they give any authorisation number then? Time waist?

What kind of service is this?
