Must pay first, then repair bad workmanship

I needed a filling in my tooth.
I went to my Dentist and he put the filling in.
A few days later the filling fell out.
When I called the Dentist, he said that he will only look at it after I pay the account in full.
To make a long story short I went to another Dentist that repaired the tooth.

I then refused to pay for bad workmanship, the tooth should have been done properly the first time.
As I had to pay the other Dentist for the repair, I came to an agreement with my Dentist that he would not charge me for the poor work that he did.

Several months later, I did an ITC check and I found that he had gotten a Judgement against me for "Moneys Lent". I had to pay the amount plus legal fees inorder to get the Judgment removed.

No communications were given to me about this Judgment at all.
I do not agree to having to pay for bad workmanship. Just because I sat in his chair does not give him the right to rip me off.
