On the 25th of November this year my partner surprised me with a stay at the Caledon Hotel and Spa as a surprise for my birthday, but I honestly wish we had stayed at home. I was not happy from the beginning as the room smelled of cigarette smoke and did not look clean. But it was a birthday gift and I was reluctant to complain so I stayed quiet. That night I woke up itching all over and the next morning I was covered in red bumps. We went home very subdued as the staff are very unfriendly and the service not the best. But my rash got worse that week up to the point where I had to go to the doctor as it looked like chicken pox. He treated with allergy meds and after I did not respond to those he diagnosed a very bad fungal skin infection. It has cost me over R1200 on doctors and very expensive meds to clear this and now it looks like it might scar! I complained on the 9th of December and supervisor from Caledon Spa phoned very disbelieving and with an attitude and offered us a free weekend at another hotel of which we heard nothing since. Now I am not interested in anything these people have to offer after all this but do yourself a favour and avoid that hotel at all costs!
