I submitted my policy cancellation documents promptly on 30 OCT so imagine my surprise when on 2 DEC, an unauthorised debit order of R1449 came off my account. I called into the call centre, spoke to Babalwa who told me she doesn't know what my termination was not actioned, though their system showed that they had received the necessary documents & also showed that they pulled money from my account.

I demanded that I get a refund immediately as I am already paying another provider & am losing money. I was told that even though it was their error, I would have to wait 7 working days for the refund to be actioned. I then began receiving emails that wanted me to send them my bank statement. I refused to oblige because these same shouldn't have access to my personal information.

Today marks 11 working days since they my money & I have yet to receive one cent in a refund. I don't know why I'm surprised by this when I know that they don't even comply with medical aid fund rules.

Also, as a financial institution, they are earning interest on ill-gotten funds. I would be laughed out the door if I were to demand interest on top of the money that's owed to me.
