My son was born 7 weeks premature. He was admitted to NICU for almost a month because of birth weight and respiratory distress. He required ventilation and supplemental oxygen for a period of 14 days. His paediatrician informed me he is high risk for severe RSV disease because he was premature baby and risk factor increasing the severity of RSV infection is because he is < 6 months of age at the beginning of RSV season, he is a male and family history of Asthma, birth before or during RSV season and Gasto Oesophageal reflux. I send through the necessary document to Discovery requesting the treatment. Received a reply that he does not meet the criteria it has been declined. I then went to see my son paediatrician who then gave me a motivational letter stating he does require the treatment starting January. Resubmitted my request for treatment receiving the same reply he does not meet the criteria. I have done a large amount of research and do not agree with Discovery Healths decision to decline this treatment when my son stands a HIGH change of getting the Virus.
