My mother was booked in for a total hip replacement on 10 Dec 2012. I obtained a preauthorisation number on the 29th of November & on the same day forwarded a preassessment form in order for Discovery to revert back to me with what is and isn't covered. On the 6th of Dec, having had no response, I called to ask why I have not yet received a reply, only to be told that although I had included the attachment, they had not received it (why didn't they let me know?). I resent the form to Shaun, who apparently escalated the issue & promised he would get back to me as asap. Bottom line, I have still not received the preassessment information & Discovery has underpaid the doctors account by R25 000. When querying the account I was passed from pillar to post with them saying I should've spoken to the dr (regardless of the fact that they did not equip me with the info) & with them saying that she should not have gone ahead with the operation. She was in pain and could not walk, & yet, because they were late, she was expected to cancel the dr and hospital. Shocking and unethical. Have called a few time for resolution, and after three weeks, I'm still waiting for a manager to return my call.
