No mention made on the Rhenosterpoort Water Retreat website of 21km of ungraded gravel road to travel. We drive a low Citroen C2. The result: a broken right front shock at the cost of R2720.00. Alluring descriptions of river rock pools and an accessable waterfall cascading into a deep rock pool fell away upon arrival: we were non-chalantly informed that our car was too low to access these river retreats. A complaint that no desciption on the website explained you needed a 4x4 or similar got us an instruction for an exact time in which we could be dropped and collected there by the owner. Instruction to follow marked stones that would take us 20 minutes cleared walk to the waterfall failed. Missing stones lead us hiking up cliffs for over 2 hours. WIth no water or fodd I went into glycaemic shock. This so-called cleared path which you could walk by "barefoot" got a branch with a thick twig jutting out of it into the air sole of my R1, 800.00 Puma sneaker. Braai boma light fused. Reorted but not fixed. Braiing by cell phone light. Badly equipped: 3 cutlery and crockery for 2 sleeper chalet. Minimal "abundant" game. Game feed an hour later than told, waking up at 6:30am on a weekend away
