SANBS
Gay Blood not Ok

Today got a call from the Blood Service to get me to donate blood, but I no longer do so as their policy is discriminatory against Gay Men.

There is a question on the form that asks if you are male have you in the last 6 months had intercourse with another man. If you answer is no, nothing happens, if you answer yes, you will be removed from the queue and your blood refused. So todays call (seeing as the silly season is fast approaching) was to get me to donate again, I was informed that if i the male in question was the same in the last six months that i would be allowed to donate. The issue is not the man; the issue is that there is no equivalent question to cover the same for woman.
The question is biased towards heterosexual people and specifically discriminator against gay men, based on an outdated believes that gay sex is the origin of STDs. I want the policy changed and i want any person who respects our constitution to be outraged and ask for the same. My rights are being squashed and nobody outside of my group cares. If i were black and this policy was it would cause an up roar, but I'm gay and this somehow makes it not a big deal.
