Discovery Health
Disabled people are INSIGNIFICANT!!!

Discovery have a policy that states if a patient is older than 11 years dental procedures must be done in the dentist chair. If they need to be treated in theatre the member must pay an additional fee of over R3500.

My son is severely physically and mentally disabled. As he is 14, Discovery expects that he must have dental treatment done in the dentist's chair. We submitted a doctor's letter motivating why they only safe way to treat him is in theatre.

Despite the letter and being a member for 12 years. They rejected an appeal to waver the additional cost and without even saying why. Its obvious they have no regard for people with disabilities and they are seen as insignificant.

I will be discouraging anyone from joining Discovery and I will be changing to GEMS medical aid who understands that disabled people need special considerations.

Disillusioned and Disgusted!
