Remedi Medical Scheme
Failing to Approve Hospital Procedure

My son is 9 years old and has unfortunately developed wart growths on his right fore arm (about 25 - 30 warts) as well as a few on his leg. We took him to the doctor for it to be removed where his response was it is far to many and it will be to painful and traumatic to remove in the rooms and strongly suggested that it will have to be done in theater as some of the warts are big and deeper cutting will be necessary to remove the roots.

Motivational letters by the doctor as well as photos were sent through to the medical aid for consideration upon which they declined to approve the procedure and said that I will be liable to pay for all costs even though there is like a million rand available for hospitalization purposes.

At the rates charged by medical aids, I am very disappointed in their decision not to even consider the circumstances, age and embarrassment of a 9 year old boy walking around with warts... to stingy and full of nonsense to pay for a procedure costing probably around R10 000!!!
