New membership still not processed after 17 days!

I have applied to be come a new member with Bestmed and received a confirmation that all documentation has been received on the 11th of January 2013. On the 21st the first correspondence were received from Xolani Khoza stating that I need to supply some outstanding information (only the height of my child) - the information were given through the same day. I asked how long it will take to finalize everything as I need to be a member from the 1st of February 2013. Feedback were given, 3 - 5 days. This morning when I phoned, 7 days later - (spoken with Michelle, REFL 5714520), still no feedback were given except that Bestmed is still busy!

I would like to know why it takes so long for an application to be processed? The application is already too late for the debit order to go off on the 1st of February 2013 - will this be moved to the 1st of March 2013? Could you please provide me with membership certificate and also indicate if a waiting period will be applicable? I will be part of the new employer as from the 1st of March 2013 and the debit order will go off straight from my salary (if this makes a difference based on waiting periods applicable?).
