I have had a case of severe constipation on early hours of 07/09/13 and was taken to the Casualty Department at Medi Clinic. The Doctor on duty had given me an injection for the pain and local anesthetic for the hemorrhoids and a drip. I was then given an enema however the enema did not work and I was in pain again.
The doctor wanted me to be admitted into hospital and was advised by Discovery Health that they would not pay if I was admitted in hospital and that I would have to pay for being hospitalised out of my own pocket.
The Doctor then tried giving me a mixture to drink which made me bring up and I still had to continue drinking this liquid every 15 minutes. The nurse woke me up at 05h40 and told me she would have to discharge me although I did not make a stool because Discovery Health would not pay if I was admitted. I was very upset with Discovery Health as the hospital/doctor was not asked by Discovery Health of how severe my case of constipation and hemorrhoids were and I was just refused the authorization for admission.
If it was the Doctor's judgment to have me admitted after attending to me, why could Discovery Health not accept his judgment. Dissappointed client.
