I was admitted to hospital on the 2nd of October 2013, due to complications of an injury I sustained while on holiday. My doctor maintained that my condition was serious and that I need IV antibiotics as soon as possible, as the injury had started going septic. I immediately phoned Discovery for authorization, and was told to wait 8 hours for authorization. In the meantime, I would have to cover the expenses myself and the hospital SHOULD reimburse me IF Discovery pays (now wouldn't that put your mind at ease?). My cell phone account is higher than it's ever been because of the back-and-forth phone calls. I received the phone call (from the Hospital, not Discovery) about 4 working days later to say that the account had been paid.
Then, I received a stack of bills a few days ago, from the pathologist and my doctor, who Discovery had not paid, even though they say on the website that they cover these expenses in hospital.
I now need to pay bills that I do not have the money for, right before the holiday season. Thanks for the Christmas gift Discovery!
Never, ever again.
