Letting the pensioners down!!!

My dad has worked for SAR&H for 41 yrs. His reward-Transmed Guardian Plan. My mother is 87 years old and in a frail care home. On 29th July she became ill. The GP came out to examine her. He diagnosed bronchopneumonia and congestive cardiac failure. She was nebulised and because we did not want to go to a state hospital, we took her via ambulance to Mercantile Hospital (PE). They told me that she should be admitted and I had to pay R35 000 upfront. I then asked the ambulance drivers to take her to Greenacres Casualty where she was stabilised, chest x-ray confirmed the pneumonia. She was treated with IV meds.By now it was past 12 midnight. I asked them what it would cost to keep her overnight because it was cold and it was so late. They required R3500 excluding the specialist fee. We the took her back to frail care in our car because we were not sure of the ambulance cost earlier on. The next day, her condition deteriorated. I then phoned the DOH's ambulance and were told that their ambulance operating in that area, broke down. This is a city! I had to get a private ambulance again and on arrival at Livingstone Hospital our nightmare begins. I have a story to tell!
