In May I took my 16 year daughter to Roseacres due to abdominal pains. The doctor on call placed her on drips for pain, then ordered some blood test from Lancet without telling us what he is testing her for. When the blood test returned he told us that everything is normal with no explanation of what she has been tested for. I was quite amazed when we received a statement from the hospital which stated that a pregnacy test has been done. When I spoke to the clinic i was told that it was normal procedure. But I personally feel that a pregnancy test, like a HIV test should be discussed with a patient prior to the test been done, not comunicated via the statement. I also requested the hospital to inform us what tests has been ordered and what results were received in order for me to check Lancet's statements. This has not been done. My daughter is highly upset and feel that her privacy has been violated. She also feels hurt that the doctor "suspected"her of being pregnant even without asking her whether she is sexually active or not. What is anoying to us is plain embaresing to my daughter and the hospital don't even have the decency to apologize to her. What has happened to ethics???
