I took my son in for a follow up visit. According to the board at casualty a "Green card" is supposed to be attended to in less than 60 minutes. The receptionist at casualty gives me a form to confirm the patient details and sign the form. The surname was the same as my son's but none of the other details agreed so I refused to sign. The receptionist insisted that this was my son's details, the other patient was NINETEEN, my son is FIVE! She then printed the form with the correct details, but they managed to lose his paperwork with his medical info. The paperwork in the file was for the other patient. Two hours later, they found the corresponding info.
Apart from the inconvenience that this caused, these are people that deal with LIVES. If there was medication involved, their oversight between a five year old patient and a nineteen year old would have cost my son his life. The minimum requirement for working in a hospital should be the ability to read! And it amazes me that they managed to lose his file with medical info, but they still managed to claim from my medical aid, those are priorities for you!
