My daughter had burnt her lip n tongue with a drain cleaner which is acidic, & she was rushed to Zamokuhle where R780 was to be paid before a Dr could see her, & i was sent to casualty with a guard to tell them that am a private patient, at casualty the sister in charge checked the temperature, asked what happened & took over smoothly& the dr checked for the vital signs as well, put in a drip & because the file was still being opened at reception, when they brought it and she saw it is a private patient, she flipped, started shouting asking why didn't we say that it was a private patient, all the things she has done were for medical aid emergency clients and she will be forced to pay for the drip from her salary, said we should have gone to Tembisa Hospital, and she kept stressing that we should pay the drip R1500, at reception the said its R1200, she was just out of control & given the circumstances i was there, i kept my cool & took the letter to Tembisa Hospital where i got better service despite the long queues, the drip was not even running when they checked & they said it was unnecessary. Could they in future treat us better at least for the money we pay if not sense of duty.
