I Joined Discovery last year and had a heart issue, i had to see the cardiologist every 6 months. There were issues in the beginning about whether it was pre existing or not. eventually it was determined it was not pre existing. To cut a long story short my check ups etc were approved on both occassions that i have had to see the dr. I was put on medication in January and was told to see the dr again in July. I submitted my referral form for authorisation. My appointment was for 23rd July 2013 unfortunately the dr who has been seeing me is in icu. the dr assisting his patients only has an appointment for me on Thur. 18th July 2013. When i contacted discovery about my auth. i was informed that they have referred back to the GP for a clinical history! This is highly unprofessional and really frustrating. I have been on the medical aid for over a year, and our medical aid is through one of discoverys biggest clients. Looks like they do not care about their biggest clients etc. There is always on going problems with discovery. Every time a referral is required for just me there are issues. There are no issues with the main member or our lo with auths. What is Discoveries problem???
