I was a member of Discovery for many years, first as a dependent on my mother's medical aid, then a main member on keycare plus. I went to live in Israel for 5 months so terminated my med aid in Sept 2012, rejoined 1st Feb 2013 when I returned to South Africa. When terminating the medical aid I was not informed that I would be treated as a new member when rejoining, the call centre agent just said I would not have to pay any penalties.
I started having issues with anxiety recently, my GP referred me to a psychiatrist, who in turn referred me to Crescent Clinic, CT. Discovery issued authorisation for clinic on 1 August so I drove the 2 hours to the clinic that day. Upon admission, Discovery informed the admin staff that the auth had been issued in error and was now pended. They finally agreed to give a 24 hour auth because of their error. On Friday 2 August they issued the auth they had pended. On Monday 5 August they sent me a letter terminating my membership because I had seen a GP for indigestion & piles (not kidding!) during the year prior to 1 Feb '13 and didn't disclose this info, which I don't remember! Now I'm responsible for all the clinic bill, no med aid & worse anxiety!
