Terrible attitude

On the 6th July we made a booking at Protea Hotel in Franschhoek.
Receptionist gave us the prices which sounded good and proceeded to show us the rooms we would be staying in, we confirmed the booking indicating that we want 2 rooms. We asked if we could pay &she advised that we must pay the day we check in. To our dismay on the 13th, no booking was made for us. Staff member on duty on the 13th then asked if we paid, we informed her that the receptionist said we pay when we get there. Cut the story short they had no reservation for us. Standing with our bags in the lobby looking like complete fools. Manager on the day said they mailed and called etc all to wrong email add & they couldn't leave a msg. they then informed us that the receptionist that night 6th July was new and didnt know what to do and apologised. They tried to help find other acc. We were then told that it is a lesson learnt to us and that we must follow up if we make a booking. Completely inappropriate remarks and uncalled for. We would have paid the night of the 6th, if they had not left a jnr staff member all alone to cover front of house. I will never stay at Protea Hotel in Franschhoek and never recom them.
