What am I paying for??!?

My son had to go to theater for a dental procedure, and i was told by the practice to obtain an authorization nr. I phoned and got the nr (on 25 Jan) and specifically asked the operator if there was any amounts payable by us. the person told me that there were no amounts not covered. After the procedure we received bills totaling R7000! the claims were resubmitted, but for the dayclinic I was forwarded to the claims department, however I ended up talking to Lazesh in Oncolgy!? he told me that the estimated time for the procedure was 60min, but the motivation letter stated 90 min and that was the reason for the discrepancy. He would take the query further. A week later I called him back not having heard anything. he said it was not submitted yet and that he would do that immediately and someone would phone me back the same day. That was 28/06! Why do we pay R4000 a month for a medical aid if they cannot totally pay the medical expenses for my 6 year old, after saying that they would.. or bother to phone back on a query. We could not afford this procedure and would not have continued had we known about the R7000. I cannot recommend medshield to anyone, and am considering switching
