I was hospitalized with diabetic ketoacidosis (E10.1) which is a medical emergency and falls under the PMB condtions in June 2012. While there my doctor did all the tests accociated with this as I have had diabetes for 24 years.
The medical aid refuses to pay for the lab tests as they say that the labs did not put the right ICD10 codes or authorization on the claim. Both Pathcare and Ampath have sent on the accounts to me with threat of legal action. My doctor (Dr. Rhett Kahn) has been handling these claims and threats as the situation is very stressful for me and upsets my glucose levels. He is my CDE approved doctor. This is a claim issue between the labs and Discovery, but it is affecting my health in a bad way and not improving it, which we have medical aids to help improve our health. I am very unsatisfied with how the whole process is being handled.
