Despite the fact that my policy clearly states that a newborn child is covered until the end of the calendar month that they are born in... and despite the fact that my son was born on 6th of November.. Discovery Health have refused to pay for the obligatory and routine in hospital visits from a Pediatrician, who I should add is one of their "listed" and approved doctors. When I first became aware of this it was from the doctors offices by way of an outstanding accounts letter. I was shocked and took this up immediately with someone at Discovery. The response was to change the name of the patient on the bill from the name of the newborn to the name of the mother. I assumed that this is because I am the policy holder. The doctors office made the amendment and resubmitted the bill. And waited. And waited. And finally were told that the person dealing with this case was no longer available... so case dropped? When they tried to pursue this further they were told that as the child is not registered it is therefore not covered... now they just ignore us and still the bill is not paid... you wrote these policies... you must honor them!
