Netcare/Discovery co-payment

Netcare is exploiting a loophole with Discovery and over charging consumers. Discovery has different co-payments for Hospital and Day Clinic procedures, which are R1450 and R700 respectively.

Netcare have registered all their Clinics with Discovery as Hospitals and charge the hospital rate regardless if it is a Day procedure or overnight stay.

Unsuspecting customers go to the "Clinics" as the name on the signage of these hospitals says, and then get charged the hospital rates because of this little technicality. Unfortunately Discovery don't really care or they would have checks and balances in place to ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen. Discovery should make sure that a Clinic is registered as a Clinic and a Hospital is registered as a Hospital, but there is no incentive for them to protect their clients from this.
Netcare should have some kind of ethics that prevent them from exploiting such technicalities just to make an extra few Rands of off unknowing customers
