No wonder medical aids are reluctant to pay

I made enquiries for Grommet surgery for a child not on the medical aid. The child was seen by wonderful PVT ENT in that hospital. The flat rate for 15 mins surgery and half day in the ward is R8000. I appealed if they could consider a reduced fee as there is a one year waiting list at the state hospitals. They offered to reduce it it R7000.00 This is an outrageous amount of money for the time and effort required for such short surgery time. The Dr. had happily offered to reduce his fees by a considerable amount but Medi-clinic weren't. In the end surgery was done at a Netcare clinic. Please see my compliments to Netcare.
I will avoid - if at all possible ever having my own treatment or surgery at a Medi-clinic and perhaps save me and my medical aid a little money!
