I took my vacuum cleaner to Claremont Home Appliances on Tuesday morning the 07/12/2013 for a quote on its repair. I heard from them that Friday afternoon, they quoted R425 to repair the "speed switch" (the machine cost us R700 new). Since my husband knows his way around electronics he thought this was a bit pricey considering this is a cheap "clip in" component. We phoned the Electrolux in CT & asked for the cost of the "speed switch". It cost R30 (full retail price) & eventually took my husband under 10 mins to replace! So we collected the cleaner, straight away we noticed a new rattling within the machine... Turns out they removed the porcelain PC board resistors while exploring possible faults with the machine, these should never be removed as they can't be replaced without replacing the entire PC board now we have 2 porcelain bits floating and rattling around our machine & a damaged PC board! When my husband confronted them about this they said they did not do this.. & went on to say it doesn't matter anyway as it will work just fine without them?! Thanks for Charging me R95 (Quote fee) for damaging my machine, disgusting service and grossly over quoting for 10 minutes labour!!
