I bought a Galaxy S4 and it was in perfect working order. I then received a notification on the phone that there was an over the air update available. So I dutifully pressed on the update and the Android 4.3 update was downloaded and replaced 4.2.2.
Immediately thereafter my phone started giving problems:
- My phone randomly won't allow me to make or receive calls.
- Data switches on and off at random, but it's mostly off.
- The phone heats up incredibly.
- The battery drains completely within a couple of hours, unless I switch data off entirely.
I called Samsung SA who told me to call their Service centre in Pretoria, a company called User Electronics. This company then wanted to charge me Over R200 just to downgrade to 4.2.2.
I called Samsung back and was told to go to Samsung in Brooklyn Mall and ask them to downgrade. The man there said that he cannot do it, but that I should wait until Monday as someone was bringining 4.3 to the shop. I returned today only to be told that this version also doesn't work.
I then called Samsung again and was told to drive to Constantia park in Joburg and that they could possibly help me. It seems as if Samsung is completely indifferent.
