Exorbitant billing due to data usage

I received this phone after having a BB, and am paying many unexpected bills for data usage, whjich I did not request. The MTN centres cannot assiast, as tthey are not familiar with the cell. There were three customers at the store, and all had the same problem i.e. data being used
