Warranty policy is useless

I Purchased a Samsung notebook which has died. I was informed that the warranty was a 2 year carry in. It was bought in 2012 so no matter when in 2012 I purchased it, it should still be under warranty. I am now being given the runaround for purchasing this supposed premium brand.
