Ended up buying the wrong Ipad

I wanted the latest ipad with the new retina screen as my main use for the iPad is for reading ebooks. I Went to the store In Sandton city, i waited a while before someone attended to me. I asked a question about the ebook apps and the new ipad mini that has a retina scree, the sales representative couldn't assist with my basic questions and sent me to the technical department at the back of the store. There was a long line with people having software questions and issues. All I wanted was to purchase the new ipad mini. I got out of the line and went to a different sales rep and asked for the new ipad mini for reading Ebooks. I bought the ipad and left. I now realize after talking to a friend that my ipad mini doesn't have the new screen. I'm frustrated because the main reason for purchase was to read Ebooks. It's misrepresentation of the product.
