I studied towards my PGCE at the US's education department in 2011. Most of the lecturers where quite nice and helpfull. But there was one blonde lady who was the professor of "Introduction to Educational research". She was extremely unhelpfull and rude. Twice I asked her a question about the work which I did not understand, and both times she told me in an ill tempered manner that I must go check my notes. I did check my notes afterwards, but still did not find the answer that I was looking for. I feel this is very unfair, if a student comes to a lecturer and politely asks a question about the work, then she should respond by giving him the answer. We pay a lot of money to study at Stellenbosch, simply telling a student "go look in your notes" is not acceptable. Then I might as well have studied through Unisa. The reason why I chose Stellenbosch over Unisa is because I wanted a lecturer to help me in case I get stuck. It was a huge financial sacrifice I made to study there, not just the class fees, but also accomodation and the loss of income for a year. Boy, did I make a huge mistake. That lecturer was extremely rude and unfriendly.
