University Of Johannesburg
Lack of assistance from lecture

My son, who is a 3rd year Financial Management student at UJ has been very ill for the past 3 weeks with glandular fever and unable to attend lectures. In this time notes were handed out in the Accounting II lecture which he obviously did not get. He sent the lecturer in question a very respectful e-mail requesting a copy of the notes. He received an email back with one line stating: " I do not have copies left"
Generally at UJ, notes are posted on Edulink which is their student portal. However this lecturer refuses to post her notes, as her opinion is that if students do not attend lectures, they cannot have the notes.
I find this behaviour unacceptable - my son has doctor's certificates to prove his illness and indeed blood test results can be supplied. To exacerbate matters, they are writing a test on Wednesday (25/9) - nobody is available at UJ today (23/9), so he is self studying from a book that he bought.
I want this behaviour addressed and I want my son to be able to write the test at a later stage with the proper learning materials.
Many thanks,
Winnie Lipne
