Upon registration at Unisa, they required a certified copy of my Matric Certificate and mine had been lost during the process of moving to a new house the week before.
I was quite mortified to hear from several people that it:
1) It can take up to months to have one re-issued
2) The fact that Unisa's application period was ending the following week
Desperate, I came across the website for Umalusi (the Board of Education) and thought that it was going to be useless, but sent them an e-mail, nonetheless.
The following morning when I checked my e-mails, the query was forwarded to the person in charge already (Annemarie) who then corresponded with me personally until I forwarded all the necessary documents.
The application process for the re-issuing was completed within one day, even after I was told that it will be extremely difficult to re-issue the certificate that soon, and I received my original, re-issued certificate within the following week and successfully applied for my degree at Unisa.
Great service, great effort and great attitudes.
