I returned a Ryobi sander which I bought a couple of weeks before. It just stopped working and I thought I could return the product. Up until this point I felt like a valued customer, I am busy fixing a couple of things around the house and have spend almost R3000 in the weeks leading up to this encounter.
We patiently waited for almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. After explaining to the two women and one man what went wrong they did an assessment of the machines quality and told me I abused the machine and I was to blame for it breaking down. The machine needs to be returned to the manufacturer and they would then assess the matter and tell me what is going to happen. Which I responded and showed them the CPA in which it states that I as the customer has the authority and not the supplier. This led to them screaming at me and becoming extremely unprofessional and aggressive. It felt like by showing them the law I was trespassing on their territory and that their misunderstanding of the policies governing their work reality allowed them to undermine my rights as customer and to humiliate me as a person.
