Computer Mania is rude and tries to get out of warranty!
Computer Mania sold me a laptop that cost me almost R13,000 last year in April. It came with a one-year warranty on hardware.
I took the computer in on Thursday, just before Christmas, to be fixed because a keyboard cover fell off. I had the purchase slip and everything. The first thing they asked me was if I dropped the computer! Even after I explained it fell off while typing. One of the young technicians even told the one filling out the form not to bother supplying their telephone number on the form. He was very rude after I said no, I did not drop it, and does it look like it was dropped!
They then proceeded to tell me to sign a form where they stated that there were scratches where there were not! "Oh, but we always write scratches because it is not new." I reluctantly signed once they wrote "light scratches," and I chose to take pictures of the laptop just in case it returned with scratches.
They did not tell me that the computer suppliers were closed but warned it would be two weeks because of the holidays. I called last week. No news. They did not again tell me they only opened this Monday. I called today, three weeks later! My son starts school, and we need it next week. I just got called back to be told the manager of Clearwater took the laptop personally today to the supplier. So where had it been this whole time? They do not have the part and are stating that it is client-induced damage! What!! This is unbelievable. I am a single mom. It took me a lot of time to get the funds (in credit now) to buy this laptop, and you would think I would mishandle it in that way? Even asking to my face if I dropped it when I walked into the store!
These stores try everything to get out of their warranty agreements. I am upset and appalled at the service!
