I booked & confirmed a car online. I frequently use car rentals, so I know to expect max of 10-15minutes to collect a car especially if you prebooked. I arrived 7:30am and handed my bank card, passport and drivers licence. I was given 3 forms to fill in though all the information needed was on the documents I handed. With other rentals, they fill in details from your documents on a computer which is much faster, print it and you sign to verify. I was surprised by this rather old fashioned way of doing things in today's modern world of computerization. I was told to take a seat then 7:50am I asked what was taking long and was told that because I am foreign, they have to do some checks one me. I assume most of their clientele is foreigners so that should not be anything so special. Also I've never experienced this with other car rentals. At 8am I was asked to fill in my bank details on another form, which again is a first. I asked why it was taking so long and told because I was using a debit card. I have used the same debit card with Avis, Budget, First and Europcar rental without any hustles. I only drove out of their office at 8:20am. They really made me feel like some!!
