BMW South Africa
BMW M 135i - Broken rev Counte

Shortly after I took delivery of my car the rev counter started showing incorrect engine revs. For example to car would be completely switched off and the rev counter would be showing 1500 rpm.
The margin of error on the rev counter would then vary and eventually it would correct until the problem occurred again.
I took the vehicle in shortly before christmas, I explained to the service manager as well as one of the technicians the problem and got the impression they were hard pressed to believe me.
I received the vehicle back on the same day and was told that a software upgrade had been done and the problem sorted out.
The problem has flared up a few times since the incident in December but in most instances the rev counter "corrected" itself fairly quickly.
This weekend however the problem re-occurred and the rev counter is still showing the incorrect rpm.
I was told in December that a software update was done and that I was told in December that a software update was done and that "SHOULD" resolve the problem.
The lack of urgency on the part of the dealer as well as buying a car for over R 500 000 with an broken rev counter is quite disappointing.
