Beware of Avis's Pre-Authorization Policy

On the 10th January, I went to Global Hail Solutions to have my car repaired after it was booked in for Hail Damage repairs (which was a nightmare!!!) and Avis was supposed to bring the hired car to Global Hail Solutions. The guy was late arriving first of all and when I was driving the car, it was in terrible condition. Anyway besides that I had more problems with the pre-authorization of my Credit Card.

10th January - R750-00 was authorized by me using my pin number for a fuel deposit. I received an SMS notification from my bank that the amount of R750-00 was debited off my account. I have just finally received information from my bank that the amount of R750-00 never left any accounts at all and Avis would only debit off my card the amount to re-fill the car which was the amount of R276-07 sent to me on the 15th February 2013.

The problem I have is that no-one from Avis told me the procedure (which they are supposed to) saying that this amount of the fuel Deposit would not reflect on my statement even if I get an SMS notification. Nor did Avis tell me that they would take off the following amounts:

15th January R17-51
20th January R17-79
25th January R18-15
30th January R18-21
