We contracted a company to transport three loads from Lesotho to South Africa and they demanded full payment upfront. It took more than two weeks for the three trucks to reach their destination. During this time, it cost us to have the loading and offloading crew constantly on standby, as the company kept making and breaking promises.
We also had to foot the bill for two weeks of sustenance and travel (S&T) for our manager, who sat unproductively in Lesotho waiting for the trucks to be sent.
The management was not very forthcoming or helpful. They used delays in processing the documentation as an excuse, yet these documents could have been processed weeks before the logistics commenced. They had our money for a month before the transportation began.
