Forcing CC to convert to PTY

31/08/2013 asked FNB to reactivate my business account, because I needed to keep the same account number. Telller said that they cannot activate my account or open new for a CC because " government says so". I was told to go to CIPC and convert my CC to a PTY, I was willing to do so to retain the same account number. At CIPC I was informed that the converting CC to PTY may take 3 months or more, which is not ideal since I expect payment from a client by 21/09/23. 04/09/2013 I went back to FNB, where I was given options such as: 1. FNB could activate the account to allow money to be deposited but I could not access it until the CC has been converted to PTY (3 months). 2. Register a PTY with the same name, which I thought was highly unlikely to get the same name approved by CIPC 3. Register a PTY with new name or half the name of my CC and FNB will link it to the deactivated account, which means that I have to go to SARS and clients to inform them of the changes. Instead I decided to test what FNB teller and manager said " government says banks cannot open new accounts nor activate existing accounts of CC ". Shaun Rogers of STD BANK opened a business account with the same CC doc!
