Storage and Towing charges for a breakdown
I took a McCarthy insurance-Select Policy Schedule with the McCarthy Insurance brokers, the insurer on the policy is Hollard. My vehicle broke down on a Sunday afternoon on the 29/9/13 due to a mechanical problem. I then called the Hollard call center looking for roadside assistance. The agents told me they are not able to pick up my details form their system, spent more than a hour waiting for confirmation of my policy, they later told me that my details are not on their system, because it was a Sunday, the brokers were not available to clarify the issue. The agents then called me and suggested that they will arrange the towing provided I accept liability for the charges should my broker not be able to clarify the issue, I accepted as my policy stated that I was covered for roadside assistance and emergency repairs. The following Monday I called the brokers to arrange for payment and also for my car to be moved. They explained to me that the roadside assistance stated in the policy is only applicable to assistance in case of an accident and not breakdown. The policy only says roadside assistance and does not state that only for accident
