Over the last week I have had issues with my car starting, today I took my car to Auto Mate Greenstone, they checked the car and called me to inform that its the battery: cost will be R980.
I called around and found the same battery for R730. I informed them of this and said I will not take the battery. At that point I was told if I do not take the battery they will charge me R400 checking fee.
I was not informed of this at all. The receipt I signed for me car also did not disclose this and there is no signage in their offices. This is a matter of principle, if I was informed of this upfront it would not have been issue at all. Be very wary and ask first, as they will not disclose this to you.
We told them they will not pay the R400 as we were not informed of this, they refused to give my car back until we pay the R400.
This is not ethical business practices, transparency is key to successful client relationships
