General Motors South Africa
GM Umhlanga/SA renders pathetic service

I booked my wife's Corsa Lite in for an "oil service" at GM Umhlanga on the 09 October 2013, at 07:45. When I mailed Riyadh to find out if the car was ready, he mailed to say the car was still to be serviced and would be ready by 16:00 and that he would call me.

Riyadh called at 15:47 and said my car was washed and serviced and would be ready by 16:00. Riyadh then called back at 15:50 and said that I should come across urgently to GM as car was now un-driveable. I went to GM thinking that he was joking. He then showed me a wheel bearing that was falling apart and said that it had to be replaced. I enquired to the cost and Riyadh gave me a cost of - R2000.

I asked him if they could re-assemble the car to the state I drove it in (as it had no noises) so I could take it elsewhere as their labour prices were ridiculous (almost R1400). He said it couldn't be done. I then escalated a bad service request to GMSA 1191488312 as I felt I was being forced to use GM and I wasn't even offered a lift home or a courtesy vehicle. On 11/10/2013, I paid R600 for a cheaper part and "reduced" labour cost AT GM as I was frustrated. Part cost R107 plus vat. No follow up from GMSA to the complaint
