NO DETAILED DISCLOSURE OF DEDUCTIONS FROM DEPOSIT

In Feb 2013 we planned our holiday for June 2013 and in the process obtained a quote from Europcar for a car for the week of 14-21 June 2013, and booked the car. The quote included all costs amounting to R1081 with the exception of re-fuel, and required a deposit of R5214 when taking delivery.

When we arrived at Lanseria airport, the car was ready, but they wanted to charge a deposit of over R7000 to my credit card. After some discussion and having to provide the quotation, the deposit was reduced.

We travelled within the km limitation of the rental agreement, and returned the car with approx half a tank of fuel. I expected a refund of around R4000 less the cost of filling the tank.

On 21 June I received a credit of R2235.09 into my account. I queried the amount and requested a detailed invoice. I eventually received and adjustment of R1217.81 on 17 July 2013, but still no invoice.

On 10 Sept 2013 I again demanded a detailed analysis of the costs, and only received one more piece of useful information being the cost of refuelling, which was R149.70.

On 12 Sept I requested a further adjustment of R530.40 and a detailed invoice but again have received no response.
