On the 12th of July 2013 my husband and I bought a Fiat Uno Fire from Maverick Motors in Goodwood. The car was parked in front of the business and a Mr Andries Pienaar assisted us. He stated in the presence of both of us that the car was in excellent condition. We subsequently signed a purchase agreement containing the name 'Maverick Motors' and his telephone number and address.
Mr Pienaar agreed to Roadworthy the vehicle and we picked it up later that afternoon.
Subsequently, after a few days, I noticed several defects on the vehicle. Maverick Motors replaced the speedo cable without charge, but when my husband returned and pointed out the other defects on the car, Mr Pienaar suddenly turned ugly and claimed he sold the car on behalf of someone else, so he wants nothing to do with us.
The car leaks oil like a sieve. We have already replaced the bearings and rubbers on the driving shafts and fitted a new oil cap. The welch plug also had to be replaced. Total cost so far about R2000. Now we have received a quote for R2500 to fix the gearbox oil leak and R700 to replace the seal on the selector shaft where it is leaking oil.
