Mitsubishi Motors South Africa
Excessive spares price

The DDS unit on my Colt 2.8TD needed replacement. This Bosch DDS unit is basically a solenoid valve control device in a small black plastic housing. The price quoted for the repair was R8000. I asked why this was so high and was told it was a critical safety component (what ever that means) and that the spare part alone would be /- R7000! They replaced the part and to be fair the repair so far seems good. The final cost was R8500.00. The invoice showed only the total cost, no breakdown of spares or labor costs. I was told outside contractors are brought in to do the repair. The old part was given a box with the old DDS unit broken into several different pieces, clearly this was taken out with a hammer and I was told this is standard practice! I then called a Bosch agent for a price on this spare and was quoted R1500.00, When confronted with this, the service manager wasn't really interested. Mitsubishi charges a 15% markup so high out sourced costs for customer repairs are in their financial interests. Clearly Customer satisfaction and value for money is not part of their mission statement or core values.
